I am teaching a module for 3rd year Media Studies students this semester. The topic is Creative Audiences . We will be examining how the Internet user has become a member of the active audience. In connection with this I am keen to source a list of references for the next seminar via the Internet (you guys).
Last week’s seminar (which was the first in the series) went down quite well. We did a little crowd sourcing experiment of our own towards the end. I will share the details of this soon.

Delhi’s first Social Media Baithak was held on the eleventh of September, 2010. It was organized by Sanjukta Basu and me. The experience was extremely fulfilling for a variety of reasons. Perhaps I will put these down in a longer post once I return to the UK. For now, I leave you with a brief summary of the event.
The first Social Media Baithak in Delhi was a roaring success. The event ran for about two and a half hours. It was held at CCD in Janpath and the staff were kind enough to give us free access to the premium wifi service. The decision to host the Baithak in central Delhi worked well as the location was accessible to people from all corners of this vast city. We even had someone from Mumbai!

Where does your digital identity exist?

Recently I have had a number of interesting conversations on the subject of digital identities (DI), particularly where they exist and how they can empower people. The inspiration for this blog post comes from these conversations as well as the digital literacy workshops I deliver to different audiences.
What is a digital identity (DI) ?
A Google search for the phrase suggests several definitions. These range from the highly subjective to the dry and factual variants. My reference to the term is somewhere in between these two extremes. Continue reading “Where does your digital identity exist?”
